Rajinikanth-Shankar’s ‘2.0’ gets U/A certificate

Superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated magnum opus and severely delayed2.0, is slated to hit the screens on 29 November, 2018. The film has completed the censor formalities and has been awarded a ‘U/A’ certificate.

2.0 is 2 hours and 28 minutes long (148 minutes). Though director Shankar has spent about two years on this big budget project, it is going to be the shortest film in terms of runtime.

In a recent interview to Zee Tamil director Shankar said “Except for main characters, 2.0 is a completely different film from Enthiran. “Major Hollywood studios adjusted their prior commitments to work on this project as they were so impressed with the subject of the film.”

2.0 was originally slated for release for 2017 Deepavali. It was postponed after the makers claimed that they needed more time to do full justice to the visual effects in the film.Over 15 studios from across the globe are simultaneously working on different portions of the film.

The film marks the southern debut of Akshay Kumar, who plays the antagonist. Akshay plays a scientist who turns into a bird-man after an experiment goes awry. The film is bankrolled by A Subhaskaran under his banner Lyca Productions. It is believed to be the costliest Indian film to have ever been made, with a budget of over INR 400 crore.

Also starring Amy Jackson, Sudhanshu Pandey and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles, the film has music by A.R Rahman. It has a strong technical crew with Nirav Shah cranking the camera and Anthony editing it. Touted to be among Asia’s costliest ventures, the film will also be simultaneously released in Hindi and Telugu.
