‘Darbar’ to ‘Kabali’: Reported budget of the last five films of Superstar Rajinikanth

Rajinikanth is fondly called as Superstar by fans, and he is known to set massive records at the box office. Filmmakers are interested to do a film with Rajinikanth since they can get a higher amount than they invest. Rajinikanth has been ruling the box office of all centers, and the level of craze among the fans during his film release is incomparable. Here is a look into the budget of the last five films of Superstar Rajinikanth.

‘Darbar’ was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 200 crore, which includes the Rs 100 crore pay package of Rajinikanth. Rajinikanth played the role of a cop after many years and played a stylish role. But AR Murgadoss failed to use the magic of Rajinikanth, and the film received mixed reviews. ‘Darbar’ was also marked Rajinikanth’s reunion with Nayanthara after the blockbuster hit ‘Chandramukhi’ in 2005.

Rajinikanth joined hands with Karthik Subbaraj for the action-drama ‘Petta’, and the film was made on a budget of Rs 160 crore. Karthik Subbaraj brought back the Rajinikanth, which fans waited to see for a long time, and the film was a successful one at the box office. Rajinikanth played the role of a college professor, who has a hidden past. Simran and Trisha shared screen space with Rajinikanth for the first time in the film, and the film music was scored by Anirudh Ravichander.

After the biggest success of ‘Enthiran’, Rajinikanth and director Shankar teamed up for its sequel ‘2.0’. Both the parts are produced by different makers, but both are made on a whopping budget. ‘2.0’ was made on a budget of Rs 570 crore, and the film was simultaneously made in 2D and 3D. The science fiction action film turned out as one of the high grossing films in India, and it was a highly profitable one for the makers.

Rajinikanth joined hands with Pa Ranjith for back to back films, and he played a different character in ‘Kaala’. The film is produced by Rajinikanth’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush, and it was made on a budget of Rs 140 crore. Despite mixed reviews, the action drama grossed more than its budget to become a decent film at the box office.

Rajinikanth was very much impressed with director Pa Ranjith’s ‘Madras’ starring Karthi, and joined hands with the young director for ‘Kabali’. Rajinikanth played the role of an aged Malaysian don, and the film received good reviews from the audience. Radhika Apte played as Rajinkanth’s wife, and the film had many popular young stars. Rajinikanth’s acting in the film was well appreciated, and the film grossed great numbers at the box office.
