Kaala posters: Rajinikanth looks fierce as the ‘King of Dharavi’

The biggest release this summer, Kaala, starring Superstar Rajinikanth is hitting the screens on June 7.

Helmed by Pa Ranjith, Kaala is touted to document the story of a don in the slums of Dharavi. As a representative of the labour class, the film is said to have political overtones.

Apart from Rajinikanth, the film also features Nana Patekar, who plays the antagonist. During the audio launch, Rajini admitted that after Padayappa’s Neelambari, he would have a formidable villain in Nana Patekar’s character.

Rajinikanth on Nana Patekar, “I have had two formidable villains until now – Baasha’s Antony and Padayappa’s Neelambari. Now we have one more. I was so excited with Nana Patekar on board. It’s a very different film and I believe that it would work. Ranjith is a producer’s director. Ravikumar, you have an heir.”

Huma Qureshi is also part of Kaala, playing a character named Zareena. The actor plays a 45-year old woman in the film.

Here’s what Huma Qureshi had to say about working with Rajinikanth, “He is truly inspiring and an amazing human being. The whole shooting was a learning process for me, each and every person on the set was warm and appreciative.”

The superstar would be seen playing people’s messiah once again.
