Rajini to meet RMM district secretaries tomorrow

Chennai: Amidst reports that Rajinikanth will float his political party by middle of this year, the actor-politician’s plans to meet the district secretaries of Rajinikanth Makkal Manram (RMM) tomorrow has let loose speculations that he would take crucial decisions.

Sources say that Rajinikanth has convened the meeting with RMM district secretaries at Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam in Kodambakkam here by 10 am (Thursday) and all have been asked to attend it without fail.

Buzz is that he would seek their opinion on ongoing CAA protests across the State and discuss about strengthening RMM at ground-level.

Remember appointment of booth committee workers for RMM has been taking place for a while and it is said that representatives have been appointed for over 50000 booths across the State. Rajinikanth will hear from district secretaries, the various issues that affect normal life in their respective districts.

Sources say that Rajinikanth for the past few months has been making his ‘political stand’ clear. They point out that he did not apologise for his remarks made at Thuglaq event in January about the 1971 Dravidar Kazhagam procession, his call to the Centre to resign if they are not able to bring peace in Delhi following CAA protests and his recent meeting with representatives of Tamilnadu Jama’athul Ulama Sabai are precussors to his grand political entry.

After the meeting with Rajinikanth, president of the Muslim outfit P A Khaja Mohinudeen Baqavi said, ”During the one hour and 15 minutes meeting, we explained to him the whole issue. Rajinikanth not only fully understood the problem, but also offered all his support in his might to help peace return.”

Taking to twitter, Rajinikanth assured that he is ready to play any role to maintain peace in the country. ”I too agree with their (Muslim outfit leaders) comment that a country’s prime objective should be love, unity and peace”.

There are rumours that Rajinikanth may announce the name of his political party on 14 April and introduce his party flag. But those around him are tight-lipped.

After Rajinikanth’s remarks at Thuglaq  event about 1971 Dravidar Kazhagam procession in Salem, members of Dravidar Viuduthalai Kazhagam filed a complaint with police seeking action against the actor, claiming his utterances were ‘controversial.’

Following a petition by the outfit, the Chennai Second Metropolitan Magistrate Court questioned the Triplicane Police Commissioner as to what action has been taken in the case so far.
