Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 heads for China release?

Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘2.0’, which has set the cash registers ringing all over, is gearing up for a major China release. According to the makers, the film will release across 56,000 screens in China in May 2019.

Lyca Productions will release the Shankar’s magnum opus in association with HY Media in China with at least 47,000 of the total screens playing it in 3D format.

‘2.0’ will release in China in May 2019 and it will be the widest 3D release for any foreign language film in history, a statement from Lyca Productions said.

Written and directed by Shankar, ‘2.0’ is a standalone sequel to ‘Enthiran’ featuring Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.  Produced on an estimated budget of Rs 543 crore, it is the most expensive Indian film to date. It was released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on November 29.

The film grossed Rs 400 crore in its opening weekend to emerge as the highest-grossing film worldwide for that week. It stands with a total collection of Rs 451 crore worldwide is one of the highest-grossing Indian films.

Akshay has made his southern debut and plays an antagonist in the film. The actor has undergone massive transformation to do justice to his character and his look in the film is absolutely mind-blowing.

‘2.0’ is a visual extravaganza with enchanting VFX. The makers of the 3D film have reportedly spent a whopping 75 million dollars on the VFX which amounts to Rs 543 crores approximately.
