Rajinikanth and Silambarasan TR are the latest actors in Kollywood to reach out to help ailing supporting actor Thavasi, who is battling cancer. Thavasi, a supporting actor in the industry with over 140 films to his credit, had put out a video message appealing for help from the film fraternity a couple of days ago.

We hear that Rajinikanth has given an undisclosed amount and has enquired about Thavasi’s health status through his office. A source tells us, “Rajini sir had asked his office to get Thavasi’s bank account details. He has asked his office to keep track of Thavasi’s health status and do the needful.”

Meanwhile, Silambarasan TR has helped out the senior actor with Rs 1 lakh, according to sources close to him.
Vijay Sethupathi, SivakarthikeyanSoori and Soundararaja are some of the Kollywood fraternity who have offered their help to Thavasi. Vijay Sethupathi had given Rs 1 lakh through Soundararaja, who had met Thavasi at the hospital and also gave Rs 10,000 on his part.

Sivakarthikeyan has helped out his co-actor with Rs 25,000, which was given to the family through his fan club president Mohan. Soori, too, has given Rs 25,000, and is also providing food from his hotel in Madurai to Thavasi’s family members, who are looking after him at the hospital.

Thavasi is now getting treated at a hospital in Madurai which is owned by Dr Saravanan, a sitting MLA and a doctor, who has also acted in the Tamil film Akilan. He has promised to take care of all the medical assistance that the actor needs. Actor-director Saravana Sakthi had brought the plight of Thavasi to Dr Saravanan, who had then got the actor admitted in his own hospital.
