Superstar Rajinikanth celebrated 45 years in cinema with his family members in Chennai. His daughter Aishwarya R Dhanush took to Instagram to share a photo with Rajinikanth. Together, they celebrated India’s 74th Independence Day and Rajinikanth’s 45 years in cinema. In the photo, Rajini and his daughter Aishwarya can be seen twinning in white as they had Indian flag pinned on to their clothes.
Rajinikanth stepped foot in Tamil cinema in 1975 with director K Balachander’s Aboorva Ragangal. In four decades of his career, he has acted in nearly 170 films and enjoys a loyal fan following across the country.
On August 10, Rajinikanth took to Twitter to thank his fans for wishing him on completing 45 years in cinema. He also said that he wouldn’t be here if not for them. Rajinikanth thanked his fans by penning an emotional message in Tamil.
His tweet is translated as, “On this day, which marks the forty fifth anniversary of my theatrical journey, my heartfelt thanks go out to all the good hearts who greeted me and to the fan base of the gods who keep me alive. I won’t be here if not for you. (sic).”
In an earlier interview, Rajinikanth spoke about his role in Aboorva Ragangal. “It was a very small character in Aboorva Ragangal. While signing the film itself, Balachander sir told me that it’s only a trial. It was Moondru Moodichu which was a proper introduction. I played an anti-hero character. Even KB sir never thought I’d become a hero. He identified and wanted to mould me into a good character artist. Producer Kalaignanam offered me a proposal to play the hero. Then the picture clicked and the hero brand took off. From that day onwards, by God’s grace, it still continues,” he stated.
Currently, Rajinikanth is waiting to resume the shoot of his upcoming film, Annaatthe, directed by Siruthai Siva. Annaatthe was slated to release on Pongal 2021, but has been postponed due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The film features Keerthy Suresh, Nayanthara, Meena, Khushbu, Prakash Raj and Soori in important roles.
