Rajinikanth requests fans to not urge him to take the political plunge

On Sunday, a number of dejected fans of Superstar Rajinikanth had gathered at Valluvar Kottam, asking the actor to take the political plunge. The actor had announced earlier that he was not going to enter politics considering his health condition. Though Rajinikanth had announced in the first week of December that was indeed ready to take the plunge, he reconsidered his decision after he was hospitalized during the shoot of Annaatthe in Hyderabad.

Now, the Superstar has come out with a statement in which he has urged his fans not ask him to join politics. In the statement, the actor stated that though he was happy that his fans had conducted the protest in a peaceful manner, he added that the gathering was violating the orders of the Mandram, especially during the pandemic. The statement read, “I have already taken the decision and informed you all of the reasons on why I am not taking the political plunge. I request you all to not take part in such protests and force me into joining politics. This is only causing me great pain. Some of my fans along with expelled cadres of Rajini Makkal Mandram have held the event in Chennai on Sunday.”

The actor was expected to begin his party in January 2021. He had announced that the he would reveal the party plan on New Year and had added that ‘It’s now or never’”. He, however, did a U-turn by the end of 2020 after he was hospitalized.
