Rajinikanth says he is ‘shocked’ at filmmaker K V Anand’s demise

Tamil cinema’s ace filmmaker, producer, and cinematographer K.V Anand passed away today morning due to cardiac arrest. 

Actor Rajinikanth along with other celebrities expressed their sorrow at his demise via Twitter and other social media platforms. 

K V Anand is a legendary filmmaker who has directed films like Ayan, Kavan, Anegan, Kaappaan, Maatran, Ko and has worked in a lot more films as a cinematographer. 

K V Anand’s shocking demise had shaken the Tamil film industry and Superstar Rajinikanth shared his grief for the ace director through his Twitter page.

Rajinikanth’s Twitter post read, “Respectful K.V Anand’s demise has shocked me and I’m worried. My deep condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”

Actor Rajinikanth and K V Anand have been associated through director Shankar’s mega-hit film Sivaji: The Boss (2007). K V Anand also appeared along with Rajinikanth in this film in the middle of a song titled Balleilakka. K V Anand also was awarded the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography in Sivaji. 

In one of the major news websites, it was reported that Anand received a lot of calls appreciating his work in the film Sivaji. Anand had been flooded with phone calls from Malaysia and Singapore, near home to the far-off UK and the US, thanking him for portraying the 57-year-old Rajinikanth young. 

Anand started his career as a freelance photojournalist and contributed to many leading magazines. He later joined as an assistant cinematographer to ace cinematographer P C Sreeram. 

Later he built a good rapport with director Shankar and worked as a cinematographer for his films MudhalvanBoys, and Sivaji: The Boss.  Anand won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for his debut film as a cinematographer, Thenmavin Kombath. In 2005, Anand turned film director with the critically acclaimed Kana Kandaen. He is the founding member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC).

Reports suggest that Anand suffered a heart attack at his residence in the early hours of Friday and managed to drive himself to a nearby hospital where he passed away at 3 am. It is expected that the director’s last rights will be held at his home in Chennai. 

Kollywood celebrities including Kamal Haasan,  Harris Jayaraj, Aishwarya Rajesh,  Vivkh lyricist, Santhosh Sivan, D. Imman, and many others have shared their grief through their Twitter pages.

Times are bad for the Tamil industry as it is still recovering from the demise of Actor Vivekh and now this has come as a sudden shock in the early hours of Friday.
