Rajinikanth’s 2.0: Everything we know so far

To talk about the Rajinikanth-Shankar’s 2.0 it is necessary to use only superlatives. One of the costliest projects to produced in Indian cinema, the film has a solid star cast with Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson. Music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Nirav Shah just adds to the buzz around the much-awaited sci-fi film. If you’re late to the party, here is everything you need to know about the magnum opus.

Produced at a massive budget of around Rs 400 crore, 2.0 is reportedly the second most expensive film in Asia. 2.0 is being filmed using the latest technology which enables to directly shoot in 3D. A man known for his extravagant visions, Shankar is teaming up with ace cinematographer Nirav Shah for 2.0. The films is said to be heavy on VFX and the crew has begun shooting for a song on Wednesday.

2.0 is the sequel of Shankar’s 2010 film Enthiran (Robot in Hindi). While it was assumed that the superstar will reprise his role as Vaseegaran and Chitti, there have been speculations that the story of 2.0 is not the continuation of Enthiran. Reports suggest that songs of 2.0 were filmed mostly in sets and not in exotic locales (also a trademark of Shankar’s filmmaking style).

2.0 will also mark Bollywood star Akshay Kumar’s entry into Kollywood. The actor, who is playing the villain in the movie, is said to have a very powerful and interesting character. From his looks, we can safely assume that he will be essaying the role of an alien in the film.

While Enthiran had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the female lead, 2.0 will see Amy Jackson with the Superstar. From her first look which was unveiled recently, looks like the actor also plays the role of a robot in the movie. Will Chitti fall in love again? We have to see.
