Tamil Nadu: BJP renews its effort to woo actor Rajinikanth

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has yet again renewed its efforts to woo actor Rajinikanth in its fold.

Former minister and senior BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan on Monday appealed to the superstar to join the BJP.

Speaking to reporters at Pudukottai, Radhakrishnan said “I will be happy if Rajinikanth floats a political party. I will most certainly congratulate him. But my personal wish is that he joins the BJP”.

However, he clarified that there are no active efforts to woo the superstar.

The former minister also added that he wished everyone in Tamil Nadu joined the national party.

Rajnikanth announced the launch of his political association “Rajini Makkal Mandram” in December 2017. But the actor has remained evasive on his political plunge and has signed four movies since the grand announcement that he would contest the state assembly elections in 2021.

The actor will collaborate with Director Siva in “Thalaivar 168” to be bankrolled by Sun Pictures. He is awaiting the release of his next film “Darbar” slated to hit the screens in January 2020.

Recently, the actor undertook a spiritual retreat to the Himalayas after wrapping up shooting for his film “Darbar”. He visited Kedarnath, Rishikesh and the Neelkanta mountain ranges in Himalayas where Babaji caves are located in Kodambakkam area.
