After Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth lends financial help to actor Ponnambalam
Earlier this week, actor Ponnambalam was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. He has been battling kidney-related ailments for a couple of months now. The actor is currently getting treated for the same and is running short of funds.
Actor Kamal Haasan agreed to bear the educational expenses of his children. Following suit, Superstar Rajinikanth spoke to Ponnambalam recently and enquired about his health. He also agreed to lend financial help to take care of his medical treatment.
Speaking to IndiaToday.in, Rajinikanth’s publicist Riaz Ahmed confirmed the news and added, “Rajini sir spoke to Ponnambalam personally and has agreed to help him. He won’t disclose the amount he has given the family. He also wished for a speedy recovery.”
A couple of days ago, it was reported that Kamal Haasan and his team have been keeping in touch with Ponnambalam by enquiring him about his health every day.
Ponnambalam, through his public relations officer, released a video of himself from the hospital. In the video, the actor is breathing with the help of an oxygen mask. It is unclear whether he will undergo surgery to improve his kidney functioning.
The ailing actor stepped foot in the Tamil film industry as a stuntman. Ponnambalam has acted with Rajinikanth in films like Muthu and Arunachalam. Apoorva Sagodarargal and Michael Madana Kamarajan are some of the films in which he had shared screen space with Kamal Haasan.
Ponnambalam was last seen in Jayam Ravi-starrer Comali, directed by Pradeep Ranganathan.
