Rajinikanth Fan Clubs Stage Demonstration Requesting Actor To Enter Politics

Chennai: The fans of Superstar Rajinikanth have assembled in city’s hotspot Valluvar Kottam, to stage a protest and request the actor to reconsider his decision on quitting politics. Earlier, the office-bearers of the actor’s fans associations across the State had approached the Chennai Police to grant permission to stage a silent protest in Chennai.
Following which the City Police is said to have granted permission, with around 36 conditions to be followed, for the demonstration.  Accordingly, the protest began on Sunday, 10th January near Valluvar Kottam. Thousands of Rajinikanth fans from all over Tamilnadu have gathered in Valluvarkottam urging Rajinikanth to change his decision and shouting slogan ‘Vaa Thalaiva Vaa’. Social Media is also seen trending with ‘#vaathalaivavaa’

On December 29, 2020, Superstar Rajinikanth had announced that he is withdrawing his decision to contest in elections, also saying he will serve people without entering politics Rajini stated,  “I consider my recent fluctuation in blood pressure as a warning from the Almighty”. This announcement came as a major disappointment to his fans who had been waiting for years together for their hero to mark an entry into politics.

He cited his health issue stating that this is not the right time to personally interact with lakhs of people. “Keeping the safety of my followers in mind, I have decided not to enter politics. However, Rajini Makkal Mandram will keep working as usual and I will serve my people without entering politics. Therefore, I request all and my fans and people of Tamil Nadu to accept my decision,” Rajinikanth said.
